Today my eyes are opened.
Today I see the city as it longs to be,
Tender, seen.
Only today is my heart wrecked
With a holy fire
That consumes the I in me.
Looking far as I can see
I see
Blue Mountains sweat as they lift hard
Voluminous acres of care
In the West,
West Indies, Indios, Kalinago, Caribbeans.
I see isles,
Inlets and bays, our keys;
The hard crust of the continents
That curve,
That create corners of shelter.
Maybe…
If I go far enough out (to sea? Maybe)
I see Florida and the Guianas, Suriname;
I see Mexico saying, “Safe.”
Today, let all the I’s in Me be consumed
For me see meh countries.
