Dana Gilkes is a Barbadian-born writer, lecturer and visual artist, and graduated from City University of New York’s Hunter College with a BA in English (Writing Hons) as well as from Columbia University with an MA in English and Comparative Literature. Her writing awards include the Commonwealth Short Story Competition; the Frank Collymore Literary Award; the Packer and Dattner Award for personal essay writing (Hunter College). Her creative writing has appeared in Bim; Calabash: A Journal of Caribbean Arts and Letters; Commonwealth Currents; and POUi. She is the author of Anatomy of a Scream (2007).
